I have enjoyed watching these short bio videos about the lives of some of the great hymn writers. They have shed new light on and given depth to many of the songs we sing. Here is a video about the writer of one of the most loved songs in Christianity, "It Is Well With My Soul".
So that my blog page will load quicker I'm going to add videos to "My Favourites" on my YouTube channel. So just follow the link below and then scroll down to "Favorites" and you'll find the video there.

Warning: Ranting Lunatic Ahead
I know I haven't written much lately and that means I've got a whole bunch of stuff just waiting to get out. So here we go.
As usual Kirsten and I went to church last night but Kirsten hadn't been feeling well all day so we left quite quickly after church. We grabbed some dinner on the way home and then dropped into our couch to relax, eat and try to cool off!
As a result of being home earlier than normal we were home just in time to catch the beginning of Australian Idol. (Yeah! Please note the sarcasm) It was downhill from there. The first performer we saw was apparently a guy. That was it! Veins started popping out, I couldn't eat because I couldn't unclench my fists and my teeth could've cut steel plate they were clenched so hard. Once I loosened enough to open my mouth I began ranting to Kirsten (and as you can see now its still going on). Why all the hostility you ask? I'm not on a crusade against secular music (I barely remember what the song was), it's not a personal vendetta on this young man (18 yo I think) I don't even know him. My problem is standing on the stage was
a young man that looked like a girl! AAARGH! And then the judges just heap praise on him. AAAARRRRGGHH!! Honestly, even writing this I'm quaking. This isn't really about this young man he's just the last example of the problem I've seen. Somebody please tell me why our society is encouraging our young men to dress like girls? Why is it day after day I see young men in my shop with their girly fringes, painted nails, wearing girls clothes! AAARRRGGHH!

Consider Aunty Jack (or whatever that was), Dame Edna, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and so on.
Everyone complains about the state of the youth of our city. My question isn't for the youth, my question is "Where's the men?" I mean real men! How about men start to stand up and be men and teach their sons to be men. I am absolutely certain, beyond all doubt, that if men would start to take their role as men seriously we wouldn't see near as many issues with our young men. That goes for Christian men too!So men, how about we start setting the example. Be the man you want your son to be and the type of man you want your daughter to marry. Seems a good place to start to me.
Anyway, that's enough ranting for one day.
